About Steyning Camera ClubSteyning Camera Club was formed in 1972, and is one of the most forward thinking and lively camera clubs in the south of England. Our purpose, first and foremost, is to enjoy photography. For that reason we are friendly, open and welcoming to photographers of all interests and abilities from complete beginners to seasoned enthusiasts. We also encourage high quality imaging, and are keen to keep abreast of current trends in photography. Our commitment to challenging projects is demonstrated by our collaboration with composer Michael Finnissy in 2000 on his piano work "Etched bright with sunlight". Members have a considerable range of subject interests, and are working with colour and monochrome negative film, transparencies and digital imaging, both from digital cameras and scanned film. Our programme of events runs throughout the year and includes lectures and presentations, practical demonstrations, workshops and, of course, competitions. We divide our competitions into ability-based groups to encourage maximum participation - in 2001 nearly 90% of members had work appraised in our regular competitions. We also run a very popular "Coffee Club" on Tuesday mornings throughout the year, with a view to providing practical learning from our more experienced photographers, and to enjoy coffee, of course. We meet in The Steyning Centre, one of the best community buildings in Sussex. This offers a choice of three superb rooms, including the 300-seat Coombe Court Hall, with 15ft widescreen, digital projection facilities and sound system. For more details on meetings and joining us, see the club information page. We are affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) through the Southern Photographic Federation (SPF), and also to the Sussex Photographic Federation (SxPF) and the Regnum Crouch Group. We are also closely linked with the Shoreham ∓ Steyning Digital Imaging Group (SSDIG) Recent regional successes include:
